Technical Writing

One of many things that I learned while working on my Track T and various other hot rods is that many of the directions included with the parts leave a lot to be desired. Inconsistent wording and photos that have no labels to indicate which parts are being discussed seems to be a common problem with directions included with many hot rod parts. I have been around hot rods for more than 25 years and I can't figure out what some of these installation directions are trying to convey, so how is a newcomer to this hobby going to figure it out?

If your company manufactures a great product, but you need some help with installation/operation instructions or product photography, Dennis Parks Communications can help. Are you getting complaints from your customers about poor quality instructions or instructions that don't make sense? Just because you manufacture a great part, that doesn't mean that you can adequately explain to your customer how to install or use it. I have more than ten years of experience as a professional technical writer and more than 20 years of professional writing/photography experience. To discuss how Dennis Parks Communications can provide text and/or photos for your company or business (large or small), contact Dennis Parks Communications via e-mail.

Photography

The motorcycle gas tank below was photographed for Tim "Mayhem" Kohl of Washington, Missouri. Rest assured, you will be seeing more of this artist's work in lots of venues. Photography cannot do it justice however, it must be seen in person to see how great it truly is. Some of Tim's work can be seen in my book, How To Plate, Polish and Chrome.

The '32 Ford roadster shown below was built for Terry Rehma by longtime friend Keith Moritz, who owns Morfab Customs.

Some of my past and present clients include Pete & Jake's Hot Rod Parts, Sun Specs, Morfab Customs, and New Port Engineering. My writing experience includes how-to articles, installation instructions, operation manuals, press releases, advertisements, and catalogs. Photographic services (both film and digital) include product photography, event coverage, shop tours, and vehicle portraiture.

My ability to write the text and photograph the products for your technical documents ultimately saves you both time and money. This eliminates the need for you to hire one person to write and another to take photos, when I can do both jobs for you.

This photo from the feature in ROD & CUSTOM Magazine was also used in the Pete & Jake's ad for their then recently completed Viper Coupe.

Anyone who knows hot rods recognizes these as a pair of front 4-bars. This photo was for Pete & Jake's Hot Rod Parts.

Many of the photos used in Sun Specs catalogs and ads was done by me, many years ago.
